Bago ako naging si Binibining Melanie, Cassie Filan muna ang pseudonym ko. I was crazy over Shane Filan nung high school then I fell inlove with the name of the protagonist of this book, one of the darkest novels written by Martha Cecilia.

Last night, bago matulog, I read a post on Martha's fan page that she passed away. Hindi ako makapaniwala kahit anak niya 'yung nag-post. Hellooow! She is THE Martha Cecilia of Philippine Literature. Hindi basta-bastang manunulat. For me, she was immortal. So I slept. Baka joke lang. Inaantok na ako eh.

When I checked FB this morning, nagpost na ang ibang writers at mismong Precious Hearts Romacnes tungkol sa pagkawala niya. I still refused to believe it. So binasa ko ang isa sa paborito kong nobela niya, Be Still, My Heart. Before the story ends, she said... 

"We can always dream, can't we? And we can build castle in the air."

And I cried. I'm still crying inside. Her novels inspired me.
